Official TCF Forum Bug List/Reporting

I am strangely able to follow any perma-banned member. Not sure if this is a bug, or if anything can or should be done about it, but you can look at any warning ever issued, even on restricted or banned profiles. This can be done via the URL: https://forums.terraria.org/index.php?warnings/ followed by the warning number. I've used this in the past to bug out my "Following" list, where it says I'm following over 100 people, but only 6 show, as all other members have been banned prior to following them, whether they be a spambot, troll, duplicate account, or what have you. Warnings for deleted accounts won't show this way, but I have not tested to see if it's possible to follow a deleted account or what happens when a member you're following gets deleted.
This is less a bug and more using a sort of "back door" to get to profiles you normally wouldn't have access to. As far as I know, and I may be wrong, there really isn't anything we can do about it.

I'm unsure what happens in regards to a deleted account. Maybe I'll run some tests on the next spambot that slips through the cracks.

I don't recommend encouraging spambots, try making a test account instead. I assume that if someone follows you then their account is deleted, then your "Followers" count will drop accordingly. Although deleting accounts isn't typical practice of this site, I don't see any real harm in checking the effects of such scenarios.

'Deleted' accounts aren't accessible by anyone, since they no longer exist (although any content they may have posted will remain). This is primarily why we will not delete accounts which have been valid/active; we cannot guarantee that we could find all posts/activity made by such accounts, and all such content would be shown as posted by 'unknown_account' or some such name. 'Likes' would show up in a similar manner as well, and in the past (i.e. on TerrariaOnline) we've had complaints from members about such things showing up.

A permanently 'banned' account is still accessible to the staff, since there remains the possibility that such a ban could be reversed upon appeal.

The only accounts I will 'delete' are ones that never confirmed via email and never reached 'valid' state. The registration process assigns a one-up userid number to each attempted registration, so if you try to access a random user account by account number, it's quite possible to find an accoount that was 1) banned (as a valid account that turned out to be a spambot/alternate account/banned for cause), 2) deleted accounts that never confirmed (either they just didn't do so after a long while or the email account they used is invalid), or 3) rejected by me from the manual approval queue because it was flagged for various reasons that I won't go into. The latter category probably is also a case of a 'not found' account.

I don't see any real harm in checking the effects of such scenarios.
If you're that curious (and bored), then fine with me as long as you keep what you find to yourself and it doesn't register as a security concern. I think there could well be some 'harm' in making such information public for discussion, such as details of the warnings given to a banned person. We consider that to be private information between the staff and the person involved.

There are definitely shortcomings in the the version of Xenforo we are currently using that are addressed in a positive manner in more recent versions. This is why we are trying to get into a position to upgrade ASAP.

Signatures function strangely like that. Generally you'll have to leave or refresh the page to see what it looks like with images. You can also see what it looks like on your profile info tab with the images properly applied.

No, i just CAN'T upload them! I ctrl-c then ctrl-v but i can't paste the files... WHYYYY ugh it's annoying

For signatures you need to link the images themselves, they can't be directly uploaded in signatures (in addition, uploading images on TCF overall isn't working properly at this time). You'll need a site like imgur to upload the images you want to use, and then link them into your signature using links to those images.

I can't upload files for some reason.

I get this error message:

The following error occurred:
You do not have permission to view this page or perform this action.

I checked my profile to see if I had any warnings, but nope. I didn't get any notifications when this started, so I'm not sure if this an error, or if I'm blocked from uploading files. If I am blocked, I don't know why.

Hi @TheDarknessSoldier, it's a known issue that affects everyone and is being looked into. You can read more info here, including workarounds: Known Forum Issues and Work-arounds (March 2019)

A minor bug there is the 140 character limit doesn't show in statuses to write at all ((The software being used for browsing is Firefox Nightly))

It shows in the release version. Can you post a screencap?

The 140-char limit is for a status message on your own profile. Posting on someone else's profile or commenting on any profile post has a 420-char limit and no counter, for some reason.

Those limits are built into the software and are not configurable, I've looked many times.

I've noticed that the "X also commented on X's status" the second name isn't visible anymore in the status feed:

I'll likely place more issues down here when I find them
Those may have occurred before the update was done, I don't know if that would have been recorded then. Profile comments got a huge upgrade in capabilities.

Just to be clear, which feed are you looking at? All Recent Activity, or your news feed?

It's actually on the alert page. (Including the alert popout) When someone's commenting on a status you've already commented on.

I havn't seen this before the maintenance.

This should now be fixed for all future comments made on status's. Old alerts may remain affected as a side effect of the obsoletion of a plugin we no longer use.

I just got an alert that of a new thread being created in a watched subforum (In-Game Support):

The thread in question however was created last Thursday, far longer than 50 minutes ago. Is this a bug, or was it a thread that got moved and does that generate an alert now (I don't remember it doing that before)?

It was moved to there by @Unit One. There is an option on the move to alert watchers of the destination forum, and they must have selected that.

Can you only add extra options to threads (like polls) when you are first making it? I can't add a poll to my thread after it's been added.

edit: I am able to add a poll when I create a new thread, but not when I edit one.
