Hot Topic What Boss is the hardest boss for you guys? And why ?

Megashark has a few issues with Duke's defense. Don't get me wrong, it's very possible to kill him with the Megashark, but his health drops so much faster if you switch to the Tactical Shotgun. Use Crystal bullets; chlorophyte are trash.

How about magic items like the leaf blower? I have spectre armor I could use with it. I don't have any better magic items at the moment.

Tried again last night. 2 times. still using the megashark since I couldn't get the tactical shotgun. I was very close to beating him the first time and when falling from the sky I landed in one of his tornado things!! 2nd try was my son's turn and he did very good but died by the dang tornado things too.

You could try using the leaf blower, not sure how it would work out because I haven't tried him with that yet, but it should go just fine. Spectre armor is pretty OP, so I think you'll be set.

I'd say Fishron, but I kill him quite fast now and even without potions. So it's Ice Queen - she stays too far away and does her swipes too often, even homing weapons don't give enough DPS for fast kill.

The Twins took me almost 20 tries with my friends to beat. We didn't really know anything about hard mode back then, though.

My son was finally able to beat Duke Fishron last night using the legendary terra blade we just made the day before. He dropped the flairon the first time. We reforged it to Godly and now kick his butt all the time!!!!

Not counting Frost Moon (which I've yet to make any serious attempts at, and probably won't until 1.3 stuff), I would have to say the Brain.

No, seriously, the Brain.

I am, of course, speaking of normal progression through the game (going after him right after the Eye and no other bosses down, and before Jungle), and this is assuming the Dungeon did not spawn a Water Bolt above the surface (if it did, then the Brain is just ridiculously easy). It can be made a little easier if you happened to get Platinum (for Platinum Staff), but otherwise....

I just find him a pain. I find it fairly hard to avoid getting hit in his second phase, and it is a crapshoot as to whether or not I'll kill him before he kills me in that second phase where he just teleport-ram spams over and over and over again. You hit him a couple times, he hits you once, and teleports away to repeat over and over again. Sometimes I can step away at just the right time to dodge, but it isn't exactly easy sometimes depending on room setup, etc.

But, thankfully, it is easy to re-summon him if all the hearts have been broken, and you don't need a full kill to get the stuff he drops so there is that.

Otherwise, I'd have to say Fishron with no Vampire Knives or Flairon. Everything else I've got pretty down-pat, to where it isn't all that much of a trouble at all.

on console I will say the pumpking and the ice queen because they kill me both fast and they hit like a truck

On pc, I say the ice queen, because she is just to fast

I think the brain is the hardest because at times when I can barely beat the EoW, I can't beat the BoC.

To be honest, what really hits my nerves about the Brain is when you're trying to get out of the chasm into the open area and he keeps teleporting directly on you. The fight after getting out of the chasm always goes well, but it's just before that where it seems to be sheer luck whether or not the Brain teleports on you and takes away 100 health before you've even started the fight.

Brain of Cthulhu.
This is the only boss in the game that I personally need an arena for. Unless I am lucky enough to have a high end gem staff with max mana, or a minishark, I find the battle remarkably challenging.

Why go up through the chasm when there is a lovely GIANT SPACEY ROOM right there.

...I'm not on about the entrance. You have to go down the chasms to destroy the hearts. Some of those chasms go really, really far, especially on large worlds. I learned to utilise sticky bombs to give me more time. But like I said, some chasms are damn long and it only takes one teleport on to me to cut away the majority of my health.

The 'giant spacey room' is always where I have fought him.

I think the brain is the hardest because at times when I can barely beat the EoW, I can't beat the BoC.

The EoW can be defeated by just equipping a Vilethorn, standing in one place, and clicking the LMB repeatedly. The big question is whether or not you got a Vilethorn out of one of the three orbs you smashed before he spawned and/or if said Vilethorn wasn't Damaged or something stupid like that.

The Vilethorn makes the EoW just absolutely pathetic, as in... zero challenge. Even just a Light's Bane sword makes it fairly easy (I've done it with only 1 health potion and just a suit of Silver Armor a few times a Vilethorn didn't drop).

Meanwhile, the Brain is far more difficult and it can cheese you in some situations (as FlakMaster said above), and the only way to really "cheese" it is to hope a Water Bolt spawned somewhere reachable without getting slaughtered by the Guardian, or trying to over-gear it (Jungle Gear, Ruby/Diamond Staff, Minishark, etc).

I never did like the huge skew in difficulty between Crimson and Corruption Bosses, but I suppose they are kinda-sorta balanced in that Crimson is much easier to traverse and deal with terrain-wise than Corruption is (many a player has fell to their death in those pits lol).

Eater of Worlds is still, in comparison, an outdated boss. Same with Skeletron. They had a much better reputation back when there wasn't anything to compare them to, therefore back then there wasn't a strong need to update their AI's specifically.

I hope that's what the upcoming Expert Mode tackles, though.
